Princess Grace Foundation (PGF) - USA
04/01/19 11:59 PM PST
Scholarships, apprenticeships, and fellowships ranging from $7,500 to $30,000 to USA students and individual artists for professional training in the theater arts. Funding is intended to support tuition costs for students in their final year, as well as artistic fees and salaries for mentorships and mainstage production work.
The Princess Grace Foundation seeks to foster relationships that nurture and support the applicant’s artistic development and growth. Under the Princess Grace Theater Award program, the majority of activities will provide opportunities for the applicant opportunity to work on their craft. Funding may be used for annual salary, artistic fee, tuition, or project costs, whichever is applicable to the particular type of grant (scholarship, apprenticeship, or fellowship).
Definitions of Apprenticeship and Fellowship:
- Apprenticeship applies to an individual who is “learning the trade” under the mentorship of a skilled staff person. The apprentice will work closely with the artistic director or a senior artist on the company’s mainstage production(s) throughout the grant period (e.g., as an assistant director or designer or an actor in a supporting role). The apprenticeship should also include the opportunity for the nominee to do his/her own work in a workshop or second stage venue.
- Fellowship applies to an individual artist who will have a substantial relationship with the nominating company. The Fellowship looks to give an individual the opportunity to assume significant artistic responsibilities on one or more production(s) in the company’s mainstage season during the grant period (e.g., director, lead actor, or primary designer on a production). Significant responsibility for a second stage season will also be considered (e.g., director, lead actor, or primary designer).
