Grants of up to $35,000 to USA nonprofit organizations for programs that enhance K-12 education. Applicants must submit a Letter of Inquiry prior to submitting a full application. Funding is intended to support innovative educational initiatives that improve schools and curricula, as well as professional development opportunities for K-12 teachers. Funds will also support activities that improve the quality of life for residents in Marion, Massachusetts, and surrounding communities.

The Foundation is interested in proposals utilizing innovative practices in K-12 education throughout the United States. Of particular interest are:

  • Curricular and school reform initiatives.
  • Preparation of and professional development opportunities for teachers, particularly those which encourage people of high ability and diverse background to enter and remain in K-12 teaching.

Estimated Size of Grant:

The Foundation awards Grants up to $35,000.

The Foundation is not offering $10,000 grants this cycle.

Term of Contract:

Multi-year grants are not available.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

The Foundation is pleased to have its grants used anywhere in the United States as seed money, challenge grants, or to match other grants to the recipient organizations.

Applications must include proof of 501 (c)(3) status or other tax-exempt ruling letter.

The Foundation does not make grants to individuals, multi year grants, nor grants for general operating, endowment purposes or building programs.

Unless a small percentage of the total amount requested, normally the Foundation does not make grants for childcare, pre-kindergarten, or after school programs nor for equipment including hardware, software, and books.

Pre-Application Information:

- Letters of Inquiry (35K) Accepted: February 1st to March 30, 2020 (midnight).
- Site visits (if selected): October-January
- Full proposals due October 15th.
- Notification to Applicants Requesting 35K: March 15th, 2021

Applications shall be submitted online, via the website, between February 1st and March 15th.

By August 1st, the trustees will invite selected organizations to submit full proposals due October 15th. Normally a representative of the Foundation will conduct a site visit prior to the end of February. Decisions will be announced by March 15th.

The Braitmayer Foundation accepts applications via its online application system. All applications and program evaluation reports shall be submitted online. Applications are accepted in forms other than online, however only with prior approval from foundation staff. Please call to request approval.

Please note: This grant cycle takes one full year from submission of a Letter of Inquiry to notification and may include a site visit.

Successful organizations must wait two years before reapplication.
